Starting out as a heartbreak ballad with piano and vocals, my production process turned this song into a head-bopping, toe-tapping empowerment anthem!
Unlike other breakup songs, “In Between” doesn't harbour bad feelings. It is an outlet for hurt, while acknowledging the self-responsibility for entering and staying in a relationship. Leaving was hard, but it was the only way to preserve my happiness. I found confidence that I could build myself up again. Another important theme of the song is concern for the other person to do the same.

On 25 November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, my music video for “Fight Back” came out. It has been exactly one years since the song has dropped, and one year of work has gone into the production of the video. I am very grateful to Specht & Amsel Filmproduktion for guiding my idea into a vision and bringing this vision to life, and to Hannes Gorrissen for capturing it. It is shocking to me how much women*'s freedom from violence is still something to fight for and speak up about. As with the song, my goal with this video is to raise awareness for the topic and send out courage to those affected.
